Here are some highlights from the Possum set featuring Andy Baylor on cajun tinged fiddle & vocal … ably supported by Denis Close on percussion.

1st a medley … starting with a fiddle solo called ‘Hymn’ leading into a duet called ‘Brobridge Bells’.   The final tune is a 7 bar waltz called ‘Charley’s Waltz’

Xuanxuan Trio @ The Boite

The newly formed Xuanxuan Trio is/are composed of:

Xu Xuanxuan playing erhu.   She is from Beijing & is currently studying at RMIT.

Barry Hill playing ‘travellers’ double bass.   Previously a lecturer at RMIT he is now teaching contemporary music at Southern Cross University, Lismore NSW.

Nikos Xylouris playing  lute.   He’s 3rd generation from a Cretan family of famous lyre playing musicians.

This video is of Xu Xuanxuan performing an erhu solo based on a famous Chinese composition especially popular for erhu.

Xuanxuan, from Beijing, is currently studying at RMIT. The trio she just formed was giving it’s first performance.
